Hi, my name is Gary Ditsch, and I'm the Lead Exercise Physiologist at Retrofit. When you're looking to make the work environment work for you, as opposed to being the barrier to your exercise and activity, I always tell people to look for the small, incremental changes that they can make in the beginning.

One of the first things that I always tell people to do is when they have a choice of being seated versus standing that they choose to stand as much as possible. One of the easiest ways to do this is when you're on a conference call. If you can take that conference call, stay engaged in the conversation in a standing position versus a seated position, you'll naturally get more activity throughout the day. Even better, if you can use a wireless headset or a cordless phone and add some pacing around the office while you're also engaged in the conversation, you'll find that your activity increases significantly over time.
